From Stuck to a Plan: What to Expect in a Career and Life Redesign Intensive

Do you ever feel like you’re in the wrong career, or like your life stopped fitting you somewhere along the way?

Maybe you built a solid resume, did what was expected, and still feel restless. Or you know you want a change but can't tell whether the answer is a new job, a new field, a new city, or just a different relationship with the life you already have. Whether you're early in your career, in the middle of a transition, or entering a new chapter after your kids have left home, feeling stuck between what was and what's next is far more common than most people admit.

Career changes and life transitions are hard to think through alone, especially when family expectations, financial pressure, and fear of making the wrong move are all in the mix. A Career/Life Redesign Intensive is a structured, therapist-led way to work through exactly that. Instead of open-ended weekly sessions, we move through a defined process that ends with a personalized six-month action plan.

What Is a Career/Life Redesign Intensive?

A Career/Life Redesign Intensive is focused counseling for the big questions: What do I actually want my work to look like? What matters to me now, and is my life reflecting that? How do I get from where I am to where I want to be without blowing everything up? Unlike traditional therapy, which can follow many threads, an intensive is built around a specific goal and a clear timeline. You're not only talking about feeling stuck. You're making decisions, testing ideas, and leaving with a concrete plan.

Session 1: Where You Are Now

The first session is about getting an honest picture of your current situation. We look at your work, daily life, relationships, and energy, and we name what's working, what's draining you, and what you've been putting up with for too long. We also begin looking at the stories behind your choices: what you were taught about success, stability, and what a "good" career is supposed to look like. Many people, especially those balancing family or cultural expectations, realize that some of their goals were inherited rather than chosen. By the end of this session, you'll have a clearer sense of what's driving the stuck feeling and what you want to explore.

Session 2: Values, Strengths, and What Actually Matters

Once we understand where you are, we turn to who you are. This session focuses on your core values, your strengths, the kinds of work that energize you versus deplete you, and the parts of life you refuse to sacrifice. We also look at what fear is doing in the background, whether that's fear of failure, of disappointing others, or of leaving something secure. This is often where career clarity begins to take shape, because it's much easier to evaluate options when you know what you're measuring them against.

Session 3: Exploring Your Options

Now we get creative and practical. We map out possible paths, whether that's changing careers, shifting roles, going back to school, starting something of your own, or making changes outside of work that reshape your life. We weigh each direction against your values, finances, timeline, and real-life responsibilities, and we look at low-risk ways to test ideas before making big leaps. We also make room for whatever comes up emotionally as the options become more real, because excitement and anxiety often arrive together.

Session 4: Your Six-Month Action Plan

The final session brings everything together into a personalized six-month plan. You'll leave with clear goals, concrete next steps, realistic timelines, and a way to track progress and handle setbacks. The plan is built around your actual life rather than an ideal version of it, so it's something you can follow. We also talk about how to stay accountable and adjust when things don't go as expected.

What You’ll Leave With

By the end of the intensive, you'll have greater clarity about what you want, a specific plan for the next six months, and more confidence in your ability to make decisions without needing certainty first. Just as importantly, you'll have had space to work through the emotional weight that often keeps people stuck, including burnout, perfectionism, guilt, and the feeling of being behind.

You Don’t Have to Figure This Out Alone

If you've been carrying the question of what's next for a while, a conversation can be a good place to start. Fill out the contact form, and we'll talk about where you are, what you're hoping will change, and whether a Career/Life Redesign Intensive feels like the right fit. The intensive is offered in person in Dallas or through telehealth anywhere in Texas.
